Shepherd of the Hill Library
The library of Shepherd of the Hill is located in our church
building, is handicapped accessible, and consists of over 2000
Christian-oriented books. In addition to books, we offer CD's and DVD's.
Library materials are organized into five sections, with over 42
categories in a "Barnes & Noble" system that makes browsing by
topic easier.
Organization
The categories are arranged alphabetically within their section.
Each category is further arranged alphabetically by author/producer.
For example, if one is interested in the subject of Bible Studies
then one may follow alphabetically to the category of B, in section
I (Adult). The book will be labled IA, followed by the first 3
letters of the name of the author/producer. Furthermore, the name
of the author is arranged alphabetically as well. In addition, a
reference folder can be found at the beginning of each category
for those who have no special topic in mind. Our 31 Categories in
Section I for example range from A (Angels & Miracles) to W.
(World Religions.) Our other sections with their associated
categories are similarly arranged.
Content
The library at SOTH also contains historical objects for viewing
on upper shelves. Our heritage category dates back to 1875, with
photos of previous pastors, confirmations, past and present
history.
Presently our library is co-sponsor of a reading program with
our Sunday School to offer our children more than a casual interest
in Christian literature.
The Audio-visual section, section V, has been updated by converting
our films, programmed music and events, to DVD's and CD's.
Hours of operation
Our library staff is present during Sunday School hour on Sunday
morning and every Tuesday morning from 9 to 12. Books are available for
take-out during regular church hours on trust, with easy directions
to follow. All books, DVD's, and CD's are labeled per section,
category, and author/producer for the convenience of interest and
shelving.
