Worship

Help with Banners - We are looking for a few individuals to help change the banners in church when needed. Someone will help until the new people understand the system. Please call the church office for more information.

Learning

The Sunday Morning Bible Study Group meets in the Associate Pastor's office at 9:15 a.m. The group is studying the Pastoral Epistles.

Preschool Registration 2012-2013 for SOTH begins on January 9, 2012 has begun! 3 year olds meet on Thursday-Friday from 9:15-11:45 a.m. 4 year olds meet on Monday-Wednesday from 9:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Tuition for the year is $112/mo. for 3 year olds and $165/mo. for 4 year olds. The 2012 Congregational Resourcing Event - will be held at Kishwaukee College, Malta, IL on Saturday, March 10th, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Pr. Jeff Marian will be the keynote speaker. More than 50 workshops will be offered. Registration is $17 per person (which includes lunch). Carpooling from church will be available. For more information, call the church office, 815-838-0708.

Service

The Lockport Resource Center (LRC) is located at 944 E. State Street. Volunteers are needed to sort clothing, set up displays, assist customers and ring up sales. Donations of new and gently used clothing are always welcome, especially items for infants and toddlers. Donations may be brought to the First Congregational Church. Thank you.

Winter is here! - We will need help in shoveling sidewalks/walkways when it snows. Saturday 4:30 p.m. and Sunday 7:30 a.m. This is a great way to get community service hours. Just show up when it snows!

Congregational Meeting - The second half of our meeting will be held on Jan. 29, 2012. This will immediately follow the late worship service. We will be electing new members for council and various other ministry teams at this time. Your attendance is greatly appreciated and needed. Thank you.

Support the Youth Mission Trip to the 2012 ELCA National Youth Gathering in New Orleans, July! They will be hosting a Candlelight Bowl Fundraiser on February 4th at Noon, Crest Hill Lanes (905 Theodore St., Crest Hill). The cost is $40 per couple for 3 games of bowling, shoe rental, pizza and soda and door prizes! RSVP by January 22nd to Michele or Lenny Koniewicz, or the church office, 815-838-0708. 2012 Altar Flower forms can be found in the Narthex. Remember a loved one, honor a special someone, or celebrate an occasion with the purchase of the altar flowers. Weeks/dates are available throughout the year! You can also take the flowers home with you after the 10:30 service or leave them for a shut in. Flowers are $20. You can place your form/payment in the offering plate or leave in the church office.
